About Sofia
I am a guitar tutor with 6 years of experience and an Associate Degree in Guitar Performance. I have taught approximately 150 students from complete beginners to advanced performers pursuing professional careers. My lessons cover jazz, blues, classical, acoustic, and electric guitar with strong music theory, technique, and creative development throughout. I specialize in improvisation, scales, modes, chord harmony, and live performance preparation. I have a genuine passion for helping students develop creative confidence and find a musical voice that is authentically their own. My teaching is engaging, structured, and always adapted to the individual student's goals and personality. I use backing tracks, chord apps, and DAW tools to make lessons modern and relevant to today's music landscape. I have coached students for live performances, band situations, recording projects, and music school auditions. I work with students of all ages and backgrounds with equal enthusiasm and care. My guitar lessons are designed to build exceptional technical foundations while keeping every session musically inspiring. I begin every student relationship with a thorough assessment of their current level, musical interests, and specific goals so lessons are always immediately relevant. Warm-ups systematically build the physical skills needed for fluent playing including scales, chord transitions, and picking technique exercises. Theory is introduced progressively alongside practical playing connecting every concept directly to real music the student is working on. Jazz students work on chord voicings, improvisation over changes, and the harmonic language of jazz. Blues and rock students focus on pentatonic scales, bending, vibrato, and expressing genuine emotion through the guitar. Songwriters receive dedicated sessions on writing chord progressions, developing melodies, and creating original compositions. I use backing tracks at every level to develop timing, groove, and musical sensitivity needed for real performance situations. Weekly practice plans ensure students make consistent and measurable progress between sessions. My commitment is to help every student become a technically solid, creatively confident, and genuinely passionate guitarist.
