About Adrienne
Hello! I am a singing teacher with over 4 years of experience and more than 200 students taught. I trained in classical vocal technique and have extensive experience performing and teaching in musical theater, jazz, and contemporary popular styles as well. This multi-stylistic background means that I can teach students whose musical interests span the full range of singing traditions, and that I can give students an understanding of how technique applies across different styles rather than remaining specific to just one. I am experienced teaching children and adults at all levels, from those who have never had a singing lesson before to those who are already performing at a high level and want more sophisticated technical and artistic guidance. I prepare students for ABRSM and Trinity examinations, for conservatory and drama school auditions, and for specific performances and competitions. I also have a large cohort of recreational students for whom the development of their voice is its own reward, independent of any formal assessment. My lessons are warm, encouraging, and genuinely musical. I care deeply about every student's progress and I bring that care into the way I listen, the feedback I give, and the way I choose repertoire and technical challenges. I want every student to leave every lesson having experienced something genuinely positive about their own voice — and building on that positive experience session by session is how I develop singers.

The voice is the most intimate and personal of all instruments, and singing teaching is therefore the most intimate and personal of all forms of music instruction. Every student's voice is unique — shaped by their anatomy, their vocal history, their physical habits, and the music they have grown up listening to — and every student therefore needs a genuinely individualised teaching approach. I never apply a single method to all students; I develop my approach for each student based on careful listening and observation of how that specific voice works.My technical teaching addresses breath, posture, resonance, registration, articulation, and musical phrasing. I approach all of these through the actual singing of music rather than through abstract exercises, because I find that students develop fastest when they can hear immediately how a technical adjustment changes the sound they are producing. Exercises are always connected to the music we are working on so that their relevance is always clear.I teach classical and operatic technique, musical theatre, jazz and blues, and contemporary popular styles. I prepare students for ABRSM and Trinity examinations and for auditions at music college and drama school level. I also teach a number of students who sing purely for pleasure and personal development with no examination or audition goal — and I find these lessons, where the only standard is the student's own growing artistic satisfaction, among the most rewarding I deliver.
