About Anna
My service tends to people of all ages and levels. I help them learn about techinique, performance skills, and the basics of music theory knowledge. I am a professionally trained singer in both classical and musical theater. I would like to share my knowledge and expertise with others in any way that I can.
I enjoy being a music teacher because i have the privilege and oppurtunity to help students learn about music in a positive, professional, musical and fun way. I teach them that music is not just about the music itself or the notes. It is also about the expression and the history behind the songs and the composer. I love teaching students how to sing. I love to see their passion and their growth throughout the year. It's amazing to see how far they have grown as a singer.
I have gotten my love of teaching from my vocal instructrors. Growing up in a musical enviroment, I have watched master teachers in teaching and peforming capacities. I love watching and learning from my mentors.
I have over 10 years of professional music experiance. I have sung with The Grand Rapids Symohony Chours and Opera Grands for several seasons including Tosca, La Boheme, Pagliacci, and Carmen. I have been a part of Knollcrest Music Camp and their musical theatre department of performing Fiddler on the Roof, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Les Miserables, Wicked, and Tne Phantom of the Opera. I have put on solo voice recitals in the Grand Rapids Art Musuam and the Womans City Club. I have also sung in my home church as a guest artist. I have participated in choirs that have sung in the Van Andle Arena for their hockey games and have sung in Carnegie hall in New York City. I have been involved in competitions such as the Armalimg Voice Competitiom, and the Opera Grand Rapids Collegiate Vocal Competition.

I first start with a getting to know you lesson, or a meet and greet. From there, we eill go over student information, contact info, and billing. This is also where i will let parents know my policies, and give them an idea of what interestes the student has and what type of music they would lile to learn so that they are learning something that they are interested in.
I have worked with middle and high school children. I have also worked with adults in sectionals for various church choirs. I love to work with students of all ages and abilities.
Look for a teacher who can teach your style of music, someone that you are comfortable working with and someone eho can help you achieve your musical goals. You also want to have a qualified instructor who also cares about your well-being and your voice who is also an active singer themselves.
An event that I am fond of is when I participated in Live Arts in April of 2016. I was in the GR Symphony Youth Chorus. We sang with Opera GR, GR Symphony, GR Ballet, and schools around the area. We all came together for this event. It was a great event. We sang "Carmina Burana" among others. All of the conductors, including David Lockington, Sean Ivory, Jackie Schoon, Duane Davis, and John Varineau were very inspirational to me to work with. I will remember thid performing experiance and cherish it forever.

Details
I do have a standard pricing system for my lessons. I do 30 minute, 45 minute, and 60 minute lessons. I charge by the month. A 30 minute lesson is $25, a 45 minute is $38, and a 60 minute is $50.
