About George
I have been teaching students for the past six years, and have found it extremely rewarding. I have had a wonderful working experience, teaching swimming lessons at a public pool, coaching for a professional team, and providing individual lessons. I have worked with children as young as six months, older adults and all ages in between. I have experience with special needs children and am able to accommodate my lessons to their specific personalities. I have experience working with Olympic level athletes and worked directly under a former Olympian as an assistant coach. I am not a "dry instructor" I will enter the water to demonstrate the techniques and strokes that I ask my students to perform. I believe that an instructor should be able to verbally explain an exercise, visually show how an exercise is performed, and then guide the student to doing it themselves!
What I enjoy the most is that "awe ha" on a student's face when they finally master an exercise. I've seen it in adults who have completed their very first lap in a pool. I've seen it in my younger competitive swimmers who finally master a complex technique. I've seen it on my preschoolers who are able to swim on their own for the first time. It's something I hope to see in my future students as well.
I got started in High School as a member of my schools swim team. I quickly stood out as a leader and by my senior year was the captain of the team. I later used those skills as a swimming instructor at a public pool, where my classes were held in high regard by the parents of my swimmers.
I have current certifications from the American Red Cross as a Lifeguard and a Water Safety Instructor. This means that I am trained in first aid, CPR, AED, and other life saving techniques. As well, I have training from the Red Cross to properly instruct new and advanced swimmers.
I am also a trained swimming coach by the USA Swimming governing body. I have completed both the level one and level two coaching courses. I have worked directly under a former Olympic swimmer as his assistant coach. I am well versed and able to perform all four competitive strokes. I have a huge strategy guide of drills and exercises to push your competing swimmer to the next level.

Typically, the first lesson is an assessment of the student's skills and understanding what goals they would like to meet by the end of our lessons. Once these parameters have been set, the student and I can begin a systematic approach to their goals. Some students may find the process very repetitive, practicing similar exercises or the same exercise many times over. This is so that I can ensure the student has a full understanding of the fundamentals before moving on to a more advanced technique. This type of process makes it so that my students learn how to swim correctly rather than haphazardly.

Details
Pricing very much depends on the When, Where, and Who. If we are training a young child in learning to swim at a home pool my prices are 40.00$ an hour. For something more advanced, or if a home pool is not available the price will need to be discussed.
