About Edimary
Hi My Name is Edimary and I am passionate about teaching the Spanish language and culture.
As a qualified teacher, my initial teaching experience was in the New Jersey -suburbs at an elementary level. For three years, I developed an instructional and fun classroom environment for my students. I progressed as a Spanish teacher by doing fieldwork at a secondary school. During the fall 2013 semester, I observed and tutored students in different levels of Spanish classes in an inclusive classroom setting. I experienced many different teaching styles and assisted students with their communication and writing abilities in the target language.
During spring 2014, I taught three classes at Montclair High School: a Spanish II Honors class and two Spanish IV High Honors classes. In this period, I wrote instructional unit plans according to the needs of my students. I modified lessons and assessments for students with IEPs and 504s. I transitioned to the Morristown school district where I taught three levels of Spanish: Spanish III, IV, and VH. Additionally, I collaborated in the planning with other teachers, and I did a baseline analysis on SGO's student growth objective. In 2015, I began teaching Spanish K-7 at an urban district in Jersey City, NJ. Everyday I made student-centered activities and developed lessons that promoted communication in the target language. Examples of these are interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational activities such as class discussions, turn and talk, games, authentic reading from the target language, cultural activities, and the everyday due-now. I am passionate about motivating students and transmitting my knowledge of the Spanish language. In 2018, my teaching career led me to Nashville TN, where I work at an independent school, and teach/promote my passion for the Spanish language.
