About Sunshine
I give full 60 minutes lessons, no 50 minute “one hour lessons” here. I work with each performer to set what I think are reasonable and achievable goals. I’ve been trained by some of the best singers in the Bay Area, with my roots in the rich Bay Area music scene, my mentors all being members of Bobby McFerrin’s singing ensemble Voicestra. I currently am one of the few flute players and vocalists in the jam band scene with Melvin Seals & JGB.
I enjoy watching my students achieve the goals that we set together, and also very much enjoy watching the power of music to create joy and upli un action, which is one of the reasons I have chosen this as my career. Teaching since 2005 has given me the opportunity to successfully work with students of all ages and pass on all of the good habits, techniques and tricks I have learned in 25+ years as a career singer, flutist, song writer and performer.

After initial contact, I set up a brief meet n greet that can happen in person, via FaceTime/Skype or possibly via phone. I’ll ask you to sing or play a 1-2 songs you love! If we both feel like we’re a good team to work together then We will identify goals, talk finances and make a schefumung plan,

Austin, TXI brought my daughter to Sunshine for a flute lesson. She had been learning to play the flute in her school band for 3 months and was tearful every day that she came home and practiced. She could competently read the music and manage the finger placements, but she couldn’t consistently make sound. Within one lesson with Sunshine, everything changed. Sunshine made a small tweak to the piece adjustment and instructed her with great enthusiasm and care. My daughter left that initial lesson invigorated, hopeful (and most importantly) confident that she would be able to play the flute. Sunshine encouraged her to just play. Enjoy creating sound. She inspired my daughter to work hard for the love of playing. We are so grateful for Sunshine. She is a skilled musician and wonderfully patient and encouraging instructor.
Sunshine is a naturally gifted singer and a really genuinely sweet soul. Working with her was just plain FUN, as I felt like I was just hanging with a friend who wanted to help me sing better and also happened to be a world class vocalist. I learned so much about modulation, breathing, harmonizing, and expression just from a couple sessions together. I recommend her wholeheartedly -- ENJOY!
