About Jessica
was born and raised in Mesquite, Texas. My teaching philosophy is simple: to create vocally healthy, confident musicians. I received a BM in Vocal Performance from Southern Methodist University in 2008. During my undergraduate years, I performed with Meadows Opera Theatre (SMU), The Living Opera and Metroplex Opera. I travelled to the Franco-American Vocal Academy in France to perform the role of Berginella in Offenbach’s La Perichole as well as multiple recitals with FAVA. In 2010, I received my Master of Music degree from Texas State University, under the tutelage of Cheryl Parrish.
I live in Dallas with my husband, Emmanuel, my cat, Hoffman, and my (adorable) son, Xander. When not teaching at home, I teach at JJPHS and RHS in Richardson. Previously I was on the voice faculty at Marcus HS in Flower Mound. I am also a professor of voice at Dallas College, Mountain View campus. I am a member of NATS.

I knew I wanted to start teaching lessons around 2006, while taking Vocal Pedagogy at SMU. In 2009, I finally had the opportunity at San Marcos Hogh School and Canyon High School.
I have a BM in Vocal Performance from SMU, and a MM in Vocal Perfomance from Texas State University-San Marcos. Teaching singing is my passion in life, and, since 2009, I've been teaching voice lessons.

I first get to know the student; their interest and musical tastes, their experience, and their goals. Then I warm them up and just listen to their voice to get a good idea of their sound. Sometimes I'll have them sing part of a song to get a clearer picture of their sound.
I have worked with students ages 10+, (my oldest student was 84!) and all voice types. I specialize in creating a healthy sound, no matter what kind of music you sing.
Look for a teacher that will lift you up, and that will help encourage good sounds and correct poor technique.
I successfully hosted two Zoom virtual recitals for my students, and I was so pleased with how well they turned out. The students sang beautifully, and were so well prepared. It was a very smooth process, especially since it was the first time I had done a virtual recital!
