About William
I offer a one of a kind, completely immersive package that will not only make you a better performer, but you'll also be a better listener too.
I love music, I love teaching it, and I love seeing kids figure stuff out. Music should be no exception.
I started teaching saxophone in high school and then in college I began teaching bassoon. After college, I picked up several other instruments for pit work, and started collecting students that loved my interpretations, and technique.
I have studied music at Antelope Valley University as well as California State University Long Beach. I studied a multitude of instruments there, which is what allows me to instruct students at such a discounted rate.

I will typically sit down with the student and discuss the commitment to the instruction and the instrument right off the bat. I need to know if this is something the student is serious about, or if it's more of a hobby. After that, I will move on to allowing the student explore the instrument a bit. How it should be assembled, how it should sound, what kind of sounds the student can manage to get out of the instrument. This is all reinforced with theory, and how to read music.
I have typically worked with middle sck=hool aged kids as well as high school. However I have had two (2) younger children aged 5 and 7.
Just make sure that the instructor is honest and gives you the true low down on the instrument, and what the demands are. A lot of students expect to be the soloist in every piece they perform. Music is more thatn that. I see music as a form of organized sound. Every voice has a place and a purpuse. It is your instructors job to try and help you achieve a fantastic sound combined with what the composer is attempting to convey.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
These questions depend on the seriousness of the student. For instance, I student looking for a four year music scholarship may want to use a teacher that offers advanced studies for that particular instrument. This student should choose a Master of that instrument in order to get the most bang for your buck.
However the more casual student may be more comfortable taking classes from a gigging pro without the formal education.
Ultimately the bottom line is comfortability with your instructor and most of all, trust!

Details
Yes. I charge 35 dollars per half hour. This half hour will focus on the technical aspects of the selected instrument, and what role it plays in an ensemble.
A second half an hour per week is reccomended for studies in theory, and appreciation. This half an hour is also 35 dollars.
