About Jean
I specifically create lesson plans for each individual student, curated to THEIR needs! Every student is different from another, so it is important to always adapt lesson plans depending on the student. The most important thing is to keep the student engaged with a well paced lesson plan where it is appropriate for the student while also pushing the student to be an amazing musician!
Teaching music is of course a business. But above all, the most important thing I love about teaching is the fulfillment I recieve when teaching students the wonders of music and sharing my passions with people who are interested!
I began teaching privately in 2020 with close friends and their relatives. I wanted a solid foundation and experience teaching before I began charging students. In May of 2022, I began teaching at Lessons In Your Home, Music Now Group, and Menchey's Music. I teach students around the Baltimore area.
I have played Saxophone for 6 years and currently studying under Saxophonist Kyle Coughlin. Although I primarly focus on jazz saxophone, I play with the Columbia Concert Band as part of their band section and fully familar with concert band music! I am always pursuing to become a well rounded musician trained in all styles.

Before the very first lesson begins, I will attempt to contact the student/parent to introduce myself over the phone and get to know my student! General questions would be music experience, past teachers, and musical interests. I will always have a lesson plan ready for the first lesson!
I have worked with students of a wide range of ages beginning in 5th grade to college classmates. I primary focus on Middle and High school students in/interested in band or Jazz band.
Please ask as many questions as you can. It can be difficult to know which to ask when you are starting off as a beginner, but first always ask the teacher about themselves and specifically about their musical experience. It is also very important for a teacher to curate the lesson to the STUDENTS needs!
I began teaching a new student who I believed was a brand new student. I had my typical lesson plan for a very beginner and had all my materials ready. Once the lesson began my student had told me he was not infact a beginner and had played for 5 years! Although I did not have any of my materials prepared for an intermediate player, that lesson had prepared me to curate a lesson plan on the fly and was able to give a fun and efficent lesson despite my unpreparedness.

Lesson plans always start with $50 for 1 hour lessons and $30 for 30min lessons. Payments can be made either weekly or monthly over venmo, paypal, Zelle, or physical payment before lessons.
