About Christy
Who doesn't love to create something of value! I started quilting creations of my own over 10 years ago. My husband was in the Navy and I spent many hours by myself and caring for my children while he was out to sea. Sewing and quilting was something I could do for myself, recharge my batteries, and I could do it at night while my children were sleeping so it didn't take away from me being a mom yet it gave me a creative outlet I desperately needed. After I finished my first quilt I was hooked. It was so fun to see the end result of many hours of cutting, trimming, sewing and quilting. I have always set simple goals that I could be successful at reaching. Along the way I have learned many new techniques that have helped me become a great quilter. You can see some of my recent creations at (concealed information) I have enjoyed teaching others how to make T-shirt quilts for their loved ones. I have also enjoyed teaching young people to make simple quilts that can get them hooked on loving this hobby as much as I do.
I look forward to passing on my knowledge of quilting/sewing to others. It has been such a great outlet for me over the years and my hope is that it will be for you as well.
I enjoy creating something that will last a lifetime. Just think, you can make something with your own hands and hand it down generations and it becomes a honored treasure among families. Its fun to see what you can create when you play with patterns and colors. The opions are endless!
I have been a teacher my whole life. I have taught elementary school for years, then we moved to California and I just don't have the heart to start over with getting my license transfered and looking for a job. I pln to persue teaching quilting for a short time then make decisions on what to do going forward.
I have been sewing for over 10 years. I have attended multiple quilting clesses and own multiple sewing machines. I have experience using quilting rulers and have quilted using a variety of techniques.

I will discuss any goals you may have and focus in on your level of experience with quilting.
I have taught young girls ages 8- 19 to quilt with my church group. I have also worked with people of all ages. One of my former students went on to develop a silicone pressing mat, after she learned how to quilt with my classes. She saw a need and began a business of her own.
Be flexible and open to trying new things. We can all learn something from others in any environment if we have the attitude of willingness to just try it. I would not go out and buy a big expensive sewing machine, but rather try quilting out and see if it is something you really want to do before going out and purchasing expensive machines you will maybe never use.
I have enjoyed making T-Shirt Quilts for my friends children who graduate high school. It is so fun to take all their old T-shirts from years past and create something of sentimental value that they can cherish while being away from home.

Details
Each lesson is 30-45 minutes in duration. I will do up to three lessons a week depending upon student needs/availability. I we are using my machines at my home the cost is $25 per hour and if you want me to come to you the cost is $35 per hour. I do lessons between the hours of 7:30 am to 5:30 pm.
