About Phyllis
My students are confident players based on the Suzuki Piano method. I also integrate traditional methods to promoting music reading. I also give students opportunities to prepare for music festivals, and the certificate of merit exams that is recognized statewide.
Students have enjoyed having opportunities to participate in group theory classes, play in their school assemblies, talent shows, and special music in their churches.
I enjoy seeing my students grow in fine young musicians and enjoying music over the past 10 years. I enjoy getting them involved in the community, graduating each level, and seeing them gain self confidence in themselves.
I created a personal website.
I have a masters in piano pedagody from Holy Names University, and received Suzuki training from the Suzuki Summer Institue at Holy Names University.

I am a Suzuki piano teacher. I usually always start with something the student knows and build from there to help them feel successful. Melodies they already have in their ear makes it easier for them to learn, and so I stress the importance of listening as part of their practice regime. It is also a good way to motivate them to learn. I begin teaching reading once they have a good sense of completing level one.
Mainly students in my community.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What are your goals?
How much time and commitment are you willing to make?
Events...how much are you able to participate in..ie. recitals, festivals, exams, competitions?
Scheduling...are you able to workout a time that works both for you and the teacher?
Policies.....always read carefully....see if you have any issues before committing.

Perfect! Ms. Pan is a superb piano teacher. She teaches the student from the ground up. It’s not just about playing but it’s also learning the theory of piano. Ms. Pan goes above and beyond to work with her students, getting to know them and involving the family. She has helped my son build a solid foundation to really develop his piano skills. After one year of instruction, he is way ahead of his peers who have been taking piano for years. Ms. Pan has made my very shy teen into a confident, strong piano player and music lover! I definitely recommend Ms. Pan to anyone looking to learn piano.

Phyllis has been my daughter’s piano teacher since she was in third grade. Phyllis is an excellent teacher. She is very patient and loves to work with kids. My daughter just completed CM level 8 with branch and state honors. Phyllis does a great job preparing her students for the test.
Phyllis is a great music teacher! She is great at teaching practice techniques to speed up your progress when learning new repertoire or training new skills. I have seen a lot of personal improvement in the past few years under Phyllis' teaching!
