First, I will ask some questions and hear them play to see where they're at as a pianist. I will show them different styles and avenues to take the piano by playing some things for them. And if we both feel good as a team and ready to embark on this journey, then the student would purchase the specific book for their needs and goals and fall in love with the instrument and all it has to offer us as a musician.



I have worked alongside children as young as five to adults as old as 75. Every age brings something to the table that I can cherish as well as impart whatever skill they are seeking through piano instruction.



Students looking for a teacher: find the teacher that knows how to balance accountability and pressure with understanding and free will. A teacher is there to push you, but also knows that you need to love playing in order to pursue it.



I was teaching a particular student one day, and they were focusing on the treble clef part, and so I took out my cello and played what their left hand would have played and it became a lovely duet. Bringing instruments together and creating such sweet harmonies had me smiling for the rest of the day.
