About Ellie
I am a soon-to-be college graduate with degrees in flute performance and music education. In addition to receiving scholarships and winning competitions for flute, I have won awards related to my teaching, most recently the 2020 Teacher of Promise Award. I have experience working with a wide variety of ages: I've taught pre-school music, been a pre-service teacher at an elementary school, taught private lessons in piano and flute, and tutored college students in music. I am in the process of becoming a state-certified teacher of K-12 Music and will jump at any opportunity to share the joys that music can create! I am currently located in Farmville, VA and a student at Longwood University.
I started working with students informally when I was in high school. Since I started college four years ago, I have been teaching pretty consistently.
I will be receiving a degree in K-12 Music Education in May of 2020. Additionally, I was trained by my university to become a music tutor of college students for my department.

I first will need some background information about what the student needs help in (i.e. performing, music theory, etc.). Then, we can talk about what other resources they have utilized and what has worked and what hasn't.
All kinds! Pre-K/elementary age, all the way to college students.
It's important to make sure you have a connection with the person teaching you. I will try my best to help aid that process, but if you don't feel like your teacher is the one for you, that's okay!
