About Andrew
Top quality piano instruction providing both group and individual experiences for students of all ages. 20+ years in the area and 10+ years in the same location. Experienced teachers, acoustic pianos. Serious but fun!
We love teaching and we love music. Our little Studio is the realization of a dream: to make a positive impact and to do meaningful work, in music.
I taught my first student while I was still in high school, simply because I thought it would be fun! Since that time, I've alwayds had at least one student. I opened my Studio in Falls Church in 2008. Our other teachers have different stories, but we all have long experience teaching.
All of our teachers have either a undergraduate or graduate degree in piano performance or piano pedagogy. (Typically a Bachelor of Music or Master of Music.)

We always start with an interview, which is free and carries no obligation to begin lessons. At the interview, we evaluate the student's readiness for lessons and develop a plan of study which we think will be effective in reaching the student's goals.
We work with all types of interested students! Our very youngest beginners are four years old. Our oldest student is 82. The majority of our students are age 8 to 14. Most students grow up to do other things, but several students have gone on to study at the college level, including at Bowdoin, St. Olaf's, Eastman and Berklee.
Attend at least two in-person interviews (i.e. interview more than one teacher). Even if you are a total beginner to music, the process of talking with different teachers will greatly help you to define your goals and needs.
Our 2022 Summer Recital. We hosted 99 students and about 250 parents and guests for our first full-scale in-person recital since 2019.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Education begins with discovery and exploration. If you are interested in music and you have a quality practice instrument in your home and you have a plan for developing a consistent at-home practice routine...you have all the readiness you need to begin talking to teachers. Questions will occur to you as you begin talking to people!

Details
During the School Year (late August to mid-June), we charge tuition on a monthly basis. Our flat monthly rates include virtually all of the services we offer: the weekly lesson, semi-annual recitals, workshop group classes, and most books and materials. Our rates also cover the cost of maintaining our beautiful and comfortable studio in Falls Church. This makes it a little hard to quote an accurate per-lesson rate!
During the Summer Session (mid-June to late-August) we charge for lessons one-by-one with no minimum or monthly charges.
We are always on 30 days notice to quit. No long-term commitments.
