About Mark
I've been doing this for many years. I not only teach, but I practice what I preach! I am a working musician. I am involved in music full time. Music is not just a hobby for me. It is my full time passion.
I have got a great mix of students from all ages. Anywhere from early grade school on up to Seniors. My oldest I've taught was 92 years old. This mix helps to keep me on my toes and in touch with a very broad spectrum of students.
We have fun in the lessons. It is not a chore; we laugh and make it a very enjoyable time that goes by quickly.
I've got a Bachelors in music from the University of Wisconsin. I've also done some masters work at UNT in Denton, TX. I've studied classical piano with Steven Swedish of Milwaukee, WI. Mr Swedish has performed with Symphonies all over the world. He also has performed on the Tonight Show multiple times. My first musical experience was with Bent Lindgren on the accordion and organ beginning when I was 7 years old. Later on, I studied with Frank Mellone who has performed with Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin. I began teaching when I was 13, I am now 63 and love teaching others how to have fun playing music.

I like to start someone out with a trial lesson to see how our personalities mesh. Without our personalities gelling and us getting along, it doesn't matter how good or bad someone is at teaching. So that is the first step. Then we put together a custom lesson plan depending upon the musical goals and aspirations of the student.

Natalie won a first division medal for solo in flute...the only 5th grader in band to do so this year. She knew about the award but didn’t share it with me because she said it was meant to be a surprise - a late Mother’s Day gift. Oh my ❤️ is so full!
I couldn’t help thinking about the one person who truly deserves recognition for building and nurturing my daughter’s love for music and piano and giving her the confidence to play a solo. Mark Ripley, this one is for you! We appreciate you so much. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
****Note: Mark started Natalie on the piano in first grade; she will begin 6th grade in the fall.An accomplished musician, Mark would be an excellent teacher if you want to take your piano playing skills up a little, or a lot.”
“Mark Ripley is a gifted teacher. His explanations of complexity manifest simplicity. With his artistry he demonstrates and in doing so inspires and motivates. ”
“I am so excited I was able to take piano lessons from Mark Ripley – he has so much experience and comprehensive knowledge of music theory he was able to get me reading music and playing fun piano songs much faster than I thought was possible”
“I highly recommend Mark to anyone from beginner to experienced piano player. His experience and patience has helped me tremendously in learning and becoming a better piano player.”
“Mark is great teacher I am a Senior and Mark has taught me old favorites and his patience has allowed each individaul to learn at their own pace.”
“I had always wanted to learn to play the piano, but never slowed down long enough to follow through. Then we lost our daughter, I was devastated and my world came to a screeching halt. I need something to get me going again, so that year my wife and son gave me a grand piano for father’s day. Shortly thereafter I met Mark and begin to take professional lessons, it was just what I needed. Being an executive in a very demanding industry, I find that piano for me, is a relaxing escape from stressful situations.”
