About Timothy
I think science learning is so important for all people. If done correctly, it nurtures the brain in so many ways beyond just learning facts. Critical thinking, problem solving, understanding how to find good sources for information, and more.
I love teaching science for these reasons. I believe everyone can be good at science with the right instruction, and proficiency and enjoyment of science can open so many doors in life
I have a Bachelors degree with a major in Environmental Science and a minor in Education.
I have a Masters degree in education and a California teaching credential.
I received all of these degrees and certification at the University of California, Riverside

I like to meet with students and get to know them and their learning styles just a bit first. This allows me to know where they are at in their learning and the approaches I will take to assist them in their learning.
After that, students can come to me with help with any scientific topics that are giving them trouble.
I like to work through science as though every question and fact to learn is a puzzle. Working using large scale phenomena that allows to explore many scientific topics is an excellent strategy I employ often in my own in-person science classrooms.
I will guide students to finding confidence in themselves to be able to achieve in their science education on their own merit.
I have worked with 6th graders through 12th graders from many different backgrounds.
