Hello, thanks for reviewing my background. My name is Scot Langdon, I am a working professional photographer in southern New Hampshire and the Boston area. I teach photography one-on-one at your convenience. I also teach all levels of students through Hunts Photo Store in Manchester NH, and teach for the Town of Watertown, MA in the adult education program. I have experience with photographing people/portraits/wildlife using natural light, sports action, commercial work for company websites and interior design photography (hotels, AIRBNB, real estate agents). I also have years of darkroom experience developing and printing film. I work on an hourly basis ($35-45/hr depending on location) for my coaching and make myself available as needed by email for any follow up questions after a session, at no additional charge.
Our first step would be to outline with you what you want to achieve and then work to build a plan to get there. I can make the most difficult concepts easy to understand. Thanks, Scot Langdon
I enjoy teaching the next generation of photographers. I still enjoy talking about photography and why it's important to me.
I started teaching/coaching photography in 2015 when I founded a photography group/club in my town, our monthly meetings held at the library. We have different photo challenges/topics and share our work in an open, non-judgemental atmosphere. I then started after hours sessions that were well-received.
Graduated from Syracuse University, SI Newhouse School of Public Communications (Photojournalism). Adobe Lightroom training, speedlight training for off camera flash work. Board member and continuing education with the New Hampshire Professional Photographers Association. ((concealed information)

After we connect, the first step would be to outline with you what you want to achieve with your photography, and I do this with a student questionnaire. We then work forward to build a plan to help get you there. I will send the plan in writing to you for approval before we start. If you need references, I will provide them.
I work with beginners who just purchased their first digital camera and going on a trip; or students just learning how to use a 35mm film camera for high school; or experienced photographers who want to push their skills to the next level with advanced shooting or lighting help.
Ask the following questions:
Are you an expert in your field?
Have you been a working professional and held the responsibility for a client's project to completion?
Where have you done this before?
Can you outline goals and follow up to make sure the student is successful?
What is your teaching style?
On the weekends I shoot weddings, which are always a fun time to shoot alot of emotion, happy images.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What do you want to achieve and in what timeframe?
How deep into the technical aspects do you want to go?
Is this a career change learning moment or a hobby?
Is this for fun or do you want to make money at it?

Perfect! Scot was very personable and very knowledgeable. He got up to speed quickly on where I was and where I wanted to go and has made a plan for us going forward. Nice guy, great experience.
Perfect! Thank you for your time and expertise!
Perfect! I had my first meeting with Scot today and it went great. We communicated well with each other and we already have an understanding of our game plan going forward. He was very easy to talk to and had a knack for flushing out my experience and skill level so we didn’t waste time going over basics. It’s an excellent start.

"Good Morning Scot,
Many thanks for your wonderful images, which are already being put to good use! The fact that the moment the images arrived they were being turned around and sent to clients highlights how much we needed fresh pictures, especially for meetings. We've already used a couple of your wonderful location images on social media, and have been sending the meeting room set ups out to corporate clients. Michael is thrilled with the pool shots as well, and is very pleased to have some sharp renditions which include the new outdoor furniture and umbrellas. As you may recall, we are about to jump into a new website and your images will go a long way to allowing us to have some great, up to date representations of the property and what we have to offer. Many thanks for taking the time to visit the Inn to take the photos and for turning them around so quickly. We greatly appreciate your efforts and love the end product! "Scot has done a great job as an instructor with our Adult & Community Education program. Scot has taught classes on how to use a digital camera and led an instructional Photowalk through Watertown. Students have learned a lot and had a great time!
The lessons from Scot on portraits and lighting were very helpful! The knowledge gained from interactive lessons like those have stuck with me better than any book or online reading ever will.
Scot the Instructor was very knowledgeable and friendly. Light angles and color are my two best friends! Highly recommend.
I recently took a photography class with Scot Langdon as part of Watertown's Community Education program. It was great! I really enjoyed how Scot provided one-on-one instruction to the class participants. It seemed as though he was able to evaluate our individual abilities and cater his personal instruction to meet everyone's unique skill level. It was also refreshing to take part in a group photography walk without feeling pressured to get the best shot; Scot encouraged us all to relax and take hundreds of photographs. If we had any questions, during or after the session, he was available and happy to help us learn. I would enthusiastically recommend this photography course to a friend.
All the best,
Erin S.I have had the opportunity to communicate with current and past customers of Scot's. All are appreciative of his ability to listen carefully, understand their needs, and deal with their business in a client focused manner. Scot would be an asset to any organization...relates very well with his customers.
Scot is great to work with...if you need a professional headshot, check him out!
I was in a bind with a cover photo shoot and Scot was recommended last minute by another photographer friend. He not only completed the project but they all had a great time. When I say last minute I mean I needed a photographer within an hour on a Sunday! Needless to say I am so grateful and he delivered. Thank you Scot!
Scot joined the staff of the Mariner Newspapers about a year after me. He was a welcome addition who brought a refreshingly new approach to the way news was covered in the communities in which our papers were circulated. He was creative in his photographic approach, but staunchly objective in the way his photographs told very important stories …and even those mundane stories we so often had to cover. Scot was very well thought of by his colleagues and could always be counted on for his high professional standards as a photojournalist. The Mariner Newspapers were "community" newspapers and the people who chronicled life in those small New England towns made up a unique community of our own as well. Scot was a big part of what made the Mariner Newspapers the award-winning newspaper power-house that we were!
I had the pleasure of working with Scot on the 24th Annual Peterborough Open in August. Not only did the photos turn out amazing, his attention to detail, flexibility, creativity, and personality helped us ensure that people were able to look back on the event visually. The day was incredibly HOT, but Scot continued to push through the day, taking pictures of all of golfers. I would highly recommend Scot as a photographer and I look forward to working with him again in the future.
Scot Langdon is a highly skilled photographer and artist. Best of all he is a caring and patient teacher with a great sense of humor who is fun to work with. His enthusiasm for photography is contagious!
