About JAKE
I meet you where you are, not where you think you should be. All of our sessions are 100% customized and personal. Having a daily plan is nice, but it often doesn't take into account factors such as work, nutrition, stress, sleep, family dynamic, etc. that arrive with you to your session.
Your workout should be an experience that enhances your day and gives energy to your life. Movement is key. Nutrition is supportive. Performance is a mindset cultivated from experience. Longevity (quality of life) is the product of living an aligned existence.
I get to make dreams come true. Helping someone find themselves through fitness, and sometimes athletics is a powerful thing. My clients fill my cup. I can say that fitness, living a lifestyle that prioritizes wellness, is a staple of each of my days.
I started teaching/coaching/training in college, working with High School wrestlers (sport-specific coaching and mentoring). After graduation, I made personal training my profession. Problem-solving, solution creation, and working one-on-one with my clients gives me the most pleasure.
After almost two decades in the industry, I have created a process that I believe will deliver you to your most fit, healthy, and balanced self, ever.

Consultation / conversation. Casual, informative. Zoom call. Goals and desires are discussed. Where do you want to go and when do you want to arrive? Beginnings are nice, but endings are sweet. Let's make it happen.
Program design: online accountability (private app), live-zoom sessions, in-person sessions, or virtual video workouts are a few of our options.
Lifestyle factors: nutrition, supplementation, mindset, work/family/life balance.
Youth Athletes to Seniors. Beginners to competitive athletes. The full spectrum. The common link is a willingness to learn and a strong spirit to guide them on their health and wellness journey.
My expertise lies in two areas. Clients seeking lifestyle solutions, balancing career and family lives benefit greatly from fitness coaching. Time is valuable, by having me in your corner we make sure none of it is wasted. Secondly, I am passionate about and effective at coaching endurance sports. I love marathon and ultramarathon running. Distance running has changed my life in profound ways. Explore, discover, search, and reveal the wonders of the human mind and body.
Schedule a consultation and ask a lot of questions. The direction of the conversation should be about YOU, not them. Don't fuss over certifications. If the trainer has the image and passion for his/her respected lifestyle that you respect and admire, then you could be a good match.
I coached one of my athletes to a personal best in the 100-mile ultramarathon. He took 6-hours off his best time. Very proud coaching moment.
One of my lifestyle clients achieved her goal weight, losing 30 pounds in 3 months while getting stronger, healthier, and more confident along the way.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
How much can I sustainably invest in health and wellness? How much coaching and individual instruction do I need to be successful? How successful have I been without a coach/trainer in my corner?

Jake is professional, inspiring and reliable. His method for training is innovative, safe and smart. My fitness goals are for longterm health and vitality. He works me hard and I pushing myself, yet I never feel depleted during the day after a workout. My energy has increased significantly and I love the way I feel!
Great, personalized program! Jake is very knowledable and great to work with!
I have trained with Jake for 6 years and my entire experience has been incredibly positive. He has innovative training ideas and motivational techniques that have really worked for me. I have cut my body fat composition from 26% to 12%. This year alone I have completed 3 running events including a half marathon and 2 triathlons. Without Jake, I would have never been able to accomplish any of that. He has given me the confidence and support to make me an active person. It is a powerful feeling to know that fitness has become a permanent part of my life. I would recommend Jake to anyone that wants to better their life through health and fitness.
I’m a believer…after almost 3 years of training with Jake, through starting out to get in shape after a baby, working out through the duration of another pregnancy, then getting my body back again; I am fit, toned, and have more energy than ever before.
By sticking with my routine throughout my pregnancy, I was able to have a strong quick delivery of my daughter, and recover and be back working with Jake in less than 2 weeks. Functional training works for me. It allows me to carry a 20lb baby during the day, lift my 40lb son into bed at night, and have the strength and energy to run, bike, climb or play with my kids whenever the chance arrives, and be toned and sexy without being bulky. I love that I can squeeze in a quick workout whenever I have ANY extra time in my busy day.I have been training with Jake for nearly one year. I have lost 18 pounds and two sizes. My 21 year old daughter and I recently compared abs and biceps and I won!
I have been training with Jake for 3 years--I am a true believer in Jake and the methods he employs--he is committed and innovative. He tailors the program to each individual. Most importantly, he understands there is life outside of workouts and your goals need to be realistic in light of the time demands of professionals. I credit Jake with adding years to my life and increasing my ability to enjoy activities that I had written off before.
I am 46 years old and have been working with Jake for 6 years. When I started with Jake I was overweight and out of shape. Jake has helped me reach and maintain a level of fitness while continually helping me reach my goals, whether it be related to cycling, overcoming a shoulder injury or helping me recover after cycling crashes. He has been committed to my overall success even when I haven’t. I have always found him to be motivating and appreciate the flexibility in adjusting schedules as my goals and time constraints have changed over the years. His knowledge and no-nonsense approach are refreshing in this day of fads, crazy diets, and superstar sellouts!!
I have been working out with Jake for six months now, I'm down about 13 pounds! Is workouts are challenging without making me so tired that I can't function the rest of the day, like my last trainer. What also like is that he's constantly changing up the routine so that it doesn't become just that. I give him five stars out of five, not to mention the fact that he's been able to eliminate my piriformis syndrome!! I'm definitely a committed and loyal client.
I have been working with Jake for about 8 months. He first began working with my husband (and still does) who strongly encouraged me to begin my own training with Jake who he described as "incredible." I was anxious and self-conscious as I am overweight, in my 50's and have never been an athlete. I should say that I have tried several other trainers and always felt I "failed." With Jake, from day one, I felt like it was possible to succeed. Jake is very easy going, nonjudgmental, and flexible. His capacity to assess my mood and energy level and make adjustments to my workout throughout my session so that I maximize my workout, and am successful, is amazing. My program is designed for me, and only me. I began with a goal of achieving a certain weight, but over the months have shifted that goal (although I saw that I had lost 13 of the 25 lbs I want to loose when I checked a month ago!). The practice of strength and movement and being in my physical self feels more important now than weight. My goal is to keep moving and keep getting stronger. I had the opportunity to test my achievements when I went on vacation and hiked a fairly strenuous hike that in the past had exhausted me. It was easy! I enjoyed every moment and wasn't sore and spent afterwards. Jake has a lot of knowledge about food and diet and makes that available as I want it. He is responsive to emails quickly and with enthusiasm. I recommend Jake without any hesitations. He is a wonderful trainer and a lovely person.
During my first visit with Jake at Xclusive Fitness, Jake took inventory of my goals. Jake has remained true to those goals with more significant advances in my long-term fitness goals than I have seen working out on my own or with other trainers. The environment at Xclusive Fitness is results-based. My workouts are tailored to the goals I identify and as I meet those goals my workouts advance. My personal goals were to increase muscle — and with Jake’s help — I have lowered my body fat and have seen significant improvement in my lifting. Jake is also an excellent resource for diet and has guided me through some major diet changes that have unequivocally improved my overall health. Finally, Jake’s training style is not the in-your-face coach you might recall from high school sports, rather Jake’s motivation is less intense yet somehow develops a personal sense of responsibility for one’s own health — something that seems invaluable for meaningful life-long fitness. I would recommend Jake to anyone looking to break out of their current fitness rut and looking to reach real short-term and life-long fitness goals.

I’ve been really happy with Jake as my triathlon and running coach for the past 2 years. I decided to work with a coach because I have a tendency toward overthinking and was making myself anxious trying to devise the perfect plan – not to mention, spending far too much time on it. By finding a coach who understands me and who I can trust, I was able to take that weight off my shoulders. Bonus that Jake has also been great in motivating me to stretch my personal goals beyond my comfort level.
Jake’s training plans for me always include challenging and varied workouts that are targeted to my race calendar and goals. He consistently uploads 1-4 weeks of workouts into Training Peaks, with good instructions on what is expected for each workout. He pays attention to the feedback I provide after each workout – often responding with encouragement, advice, answers, and sometimes even, commiseration. I meet with Jake in person every other month or so. Sometimes we just meet over coffee to talk about how things are going, strategy for an “A-race”, or race calendar planning. Other times we meet for one-on-one skills training sessions. In between meetings, Jake will forward relevant articles, podcasts or videos for me to consider. He’s also always helpful when life happens and I need help adjusting my training calendar or when I have questions about a planned workout.
Working with Jake has helped me to become a better athlete than I ever thought possible- transitioning me from a solid middle-to-bottom of the pack racer to routinely performing toward the top of my age group - even reaching the podium for my age group a few times.I have been working with Jake for about a year and a half. I can’t say enough about what he has done to help me transform my perspectives on exercise, health, wellness, and nutrition. He really knows how to approach the whole person when developing your training; he created a custom program that takes into account my goals, preferences, and lifestyle (busy, single mom!). For years I dreamed of being amazingly fit at the age of 50, and with Jake’s help, I am there and still improving. I am stronger, leaner and more fit than I have been in years. Jake met me where I was at physically when we first began and gradually helped me progress (without injuries) and improve in all the areas where I had been experiencing problems. I continue to be astounded by the change in my body composition (way more muscle mass), my improved flexibility (this was a big problem), and my ability to perform new activities I never would have imagined accomplishing at 50 (e.g., running 6 miles under 60 minutes and training for my first triathlon). Jake provides me with workouts for the entire week and using the app he provides gives me the accountability I need to stay on track. He has a wide range of strategies that address exercise, nutrition, motivation, overall physical and mental well-being – if something doesn’t work for you, he will find something else that does. As others have commented, Jake is a great trainer! Sign on to work with Jake, do the work he lays out for you, and I am confident you too will see amazing results.
