About Carrie
I love what I do because I get to teach others how to use their imagination to create beautiful works of art! I teach what I myself love to do! Doesn't get any better than that!
As for experience, I am a self-taught artist that has used drawing, painting, and crafting to enrich my classroom, provide therapy for myself, and to create FUN!
I hold a Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education, a Master's of Science in Education, as well as possess 20+ years of diverse career experience in many different fields. Most recently, I have owned a small arts/crafts business since 2017.
I attended college to obtain my teaching degree and licensure.
I have taught in a public school classroom for over 12 years. Most recently, I quit my teaching job and now own my own arts n' crafts studio!

The first thing that I do when taking on a new student is to do a brief "interview session". I ask questions that will allow me to learn more about the student's individuality, personality, and what they desire the outcome to be for our time spent together. For arts/crafts lessons, I also ask students what they like to do, what type of artwork, movies, and music they enjoy, and other things that will help me know which activities to plan to keep the student engaged and interested.
I have worked with a diverse range of students in grades ranging from 2nd grade to 7th grade. I have also taught adults enrolled in the continuing education program.
Ask to see examples of his/her portfolio and choose the teacher with the pieces of artwork that most please you. This creates a "familiar" connection with your teacher.
I just found out I will be a "Gigi" and will be welcoming my first grandbaby - a boy - sometime in September of this year!
