My tutoring approach is structured, flexible, and tailored to each student’s specific goals, whether they are building foundational writing skills or developing advanced academic work for publication. I focus on helping students become confident, independent writers by teaching both the “how” and the “why” behind effective writing.
Teaching method and techniques
I use a step by step, skills based approach that breaks writing into clear components such as organization, clarity, grammar, argument development, and style. Lessons are highly interactive and adapted to the student’s needs. I frequently work with the student’s own writing, providing targeted feedback and guided revisions so they can immediately apply what they learn. I also incorporate outlining exercises, sentence restructuring practice, and revision strategies to strengthen long term writing ability.
Typical lesson plan
Each lesson begins with a short review of prior work or feedback to reinforce progress. We then focus on one core skill such as improving sentence clarity, developing strong paragraphs, or refining structure. I introduce the concept with simple examples, then apply it directly to the student’s writing or a short practice activity. We finish with a summary of key takeaways and clear, achievable next steps to continue progress between sessions.
What sets me apart as a tutor
I am a published researcher, which allows me to support students who are working toward more advanced academic goals, including research papers and publication level writing. I bring real world experience in research, analysis, and formal writing standards, helping students learn how to write with clarity, precision, and academic rigor. At the same time, I am equally experienced in working with younger learners and focus on making writing accessible, engaging, and confidence building at every level.
