About Adrian
I am a multi-instrumentalist who focuses primarily in teaching and performing accordion, guitar, piano, and voice. Recently I've performed in Kathmandu, Nepal for the Jazzmandu Jazz Festival and often travel to different parts of the US to perform. Music is my passion and I feel the best way to teach is to be encouraging and positive and to make it fun!
I began teaching private music lessons in Austin, Texas in 2013 to supplement my income as a professional musician. I teach and a music academy in Moscow, Idaho as well as give workshops on accordion technique.
I've been studying music on an off my entire life singing in choirs and taking private instrument lessons. At the University of Idaho, I took several sememsters of music theory, but ended up with a degree from the University of Texas at Austin.

My typical process for working with a new student is finding out how far they've gotten in their musical education in general and how much they know about the instrument they want to learn. I also believe the best way to teach a student is to know exactly what they want to learn.
I've worked with students of all ages in beginner/intermediate guitar, piano, voice, ukulele, and accordion.
If I were to give a piece of advice to any student looking to hire me as a teacher, I would say that practice is essential for becoming a better musician. You must learn how to practice and study in a meaningful way and in order to stay engaged you must take charge of your own studies. Find out what you like and start to explore it. I will help you along the way as a mentor, an ecouraging voice, and I will keep you on track!
In October of 2019, I travelled to Kathmandu, Nepal to perform at the Jazzmandu Jazz Festival. There I played about 6 concerts and was able to connect with excellent musicians from around the world.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
The more questions a student has about their instrument or about the type of music they want to learn, the better. Sometimes the most difficult part of teaching is not always knowing what the student wants to learn. Knowing exactly the types of things a student wants to learn helps the teacher keep the student engaged.

Details
Each student learns differently. A good teacher learns to identify what teaching and practice techniques work for the individual student. If I were to speak about students in general I would say that one must find a balance between mindful practice, mechanical practice, and exploration.
