(concealed information)
I love watching people grow to meet their goals. I have been teaching people since I was in high school (I'm 27 now). Even now in my full-time job, after tutoring throughout college and graduate school, I work with young adults trying to grow into their professional careers. It's my favorite part about my work and, in the future, I plan to become a professor. Helping people is simply a passion of mine.
Honestly, it started with needing money when I was younger. However, I found that it was something that I was really passionate about; the joy that I get from watching an idea click in someone's head, especially in a subject that is difficult, keeps me motivated.
I have six years of tutoring experience in a range of subjects: Chemistry, Algebra II through to Calculus, Statistics, and Coding. In my professional work, I use statistics and data science regularly and manage a team where I continue to refine my teaching skills.

First, I would start out by understanding a student's motivations for taking the course and their goals. Teaching someone who is reluctantly taking a class and just wants to pass is different from someone who wants help with something they are passionate about.
Second, I would develop a short assessment for them to take with me. I would want to see how they think and how much they know so I can assess whether their fundamentals are strong.
Typically I've worked with high school students and older.
If you are signing up for a tutor, you have to care. Extra time won't be helpful if the student isn't invested in trying to get better.
I got married in October :) That's why I want to tutor, to save extra money for a house.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
It's a complicated question, but ultimately I would try to think through what about the subject is difficult for them. Is it memorizing the rules of a subject? Is it being able to work through problems step by step? Is it one concept that is just not intuitive?
