Well, depending on the grade and level of student, i have different approaches. I use onenote as a common tool for all to explain and simplify the complex concepts to students.
For kids, who need the things like construction, I use activinspire tool. For advanced students who need of visualisations of graphs, functions etc., i use tools like desmos and geogebra.
For a new student, I first get to know what exactly he needs, what is his current standing in mathematics? Then accordingly I progress while ensuring that student actually makes progress.
