I like to have our initial meeting be casual. I want to know each student on a personal level before diving into academics. I think it's important for a student to feel heard, so I like to sit down and chat about what they may be struggling with. This also gives me insight on how each student learns best. Are they a visual learner, tactile learner, or auditory learner? Sitting down with each student and having a conversation about their education allows me to plan my tutoring sessions to best fit their needs.
I have worked with on grade level students as well as above grade level advanced students.
Find someone who is able to make a personal experience out of your tutoring session. When you find someone who cares about you and your success, the sky is the limit! You will excel!
