About Mya

Are you looking for extremely individualized instruction based on your child's learning needs?. If so, look no further I specialize in provided high quality enrichment activities. I have been teaching special education for 3 years with a content focus in middle school mathematics. My experience is sure to help boost your child's tutoring experience.

I absolutely enjoy watching students grow academically and use the skills they learn to overcome challenges. That is what the work is all about!.

I started teaching straight after college after receiving a teaching assistant position at a charter school. Once I stepped foot in the classroom I knew this is where I had to be.



I have my bachelors in Education and in pursuit to get my masters in Middle School Education.

The most important element in being able to effectively tutor is gaining a relationship with the family. Being able to form a positive relationship prior to actual learning will help to instill confidence in the student. Prior to the first tutoring sessions, I like to meet with the parents via phone or email to sent up an individualized plan of action. This way we are all on the same page and learning can be followed well beyond the tutoring sessions. During the first session, I like to identify the students strengths and weaknesses to help build specialized lesson plans.



I have worked with elementary/ middle school students in both the specialized and general education setting. Most of my experience is with students with severe learning/ emotional needs.



Go with someone who makes you feel comfortable and you can trust to help you achieve your goals. There are so many tutors with different qualities to offer and you want to make sure you chose the one who best fits your needs.
