About Li Bing

Hi! My name is Li Bing. I’m a freshman at Barnard College and I graduated from Stuyvesant High School. I would love to help students with homework, test prep, or the college application process! I work with students through 12th grade on nearly any subject.

I have experience tutoring students of all ages as well as tutoring for the SHSAT and SAT. I also have experience editing college essays. I had a 4.0 GPA in high school (and a 4.0 in my first semester at Barnard) and a score of 1580/1600 on the SAT.

I’m extremely patient and I love working with kids. It means so much to me to help students realize what they are capable of. I try to guide students in the way that makes the most sense to them and I encourage deep understanding of topics, not just trying to get the answers.

My services are virtual over Zoom, Hangouts, FaceTime or other similar apps. If you are in the Morningside Heights area, I can do in-person tutoring starting late January.

I got started as a volunteer tutor in the Stuyvesant Red Cross, designing lesson plans and teaching middle school students to succeed on the SHSAT exam.

I graduated from Stuyvesant High School, one of the most rigorous schools in New York City, with a 4.0 GPA. At Stuyvesant I tutored middle school students for the SHSAT, a high school admissions exam. I also worked in the writing center of my school editing essays for English classes and college applications.

I received a 1580/1600 on the SAT and a score of 5 on numerous AP exams.

I am currently attending Barnard College of Columbia University and I have a 4.0 GPA as of my first semester.

I am part of the volunteer program Matriculate, so I am trained to help students get accepted into the most selective colleges and universities in the US.

I have tutored students in elementary, middle, and high school.

About the lesson

I start by getting to know my student and their abilities. I try to be as encouraging as possible, instilling in the student the belief that they are capable of understanding what is challenging them. I encourage deep understanding (not just getting answers) and I challenge the way students think about problems--so that they develop a vast array of tools to solve any kind of problems they encounter.
