About Tonia

I got started with tutoring when my son started school and I found that he needed additional assistance that the school could not provide. I have been tutoring all ages and types of students since 2013.

I am the parent of a special needs child who has struggled with school work since grade school. I also tutored at our local school during the after school program for students K-12. I have worked with all types of students in all age groups. I recently started home schooling my own child so I no longer assist with the after school program. As I stated before my son has special needs so I have gained a lot of patiences in working with students.

About the lesson

I work with students strictly online. I will assess the students knowledge of the subject matter and any areas that the student is struggling with. Once I determine how much help the student is needing I will set up a tutoring schedule depending on the students need.

I have worked with all ages and types of students. Including students with special needs.

I would advise a student looking to hire a tutor to make sure they find somebody that they feel comfortable with. Somebody that they are not going to feel judged by when they have questions or difficultly understanding the subject matter. It is important to have a connection with your tutor so that you feel free to express your needs without feeling judged.

I enjoy working with all types of students. I espically enjoy when I am able to help a student with something they are having difficulty with and I see their confidence increase. I enjoy when the light bulb comes on in their head and they realize that something they struggled with is not as difficult as they initially thought.

Students should determine what exactly they are struggling with and what their goal for tutoring is. They should also look for a tutor they feel they can connect with and trust.
