About Sofia
As a excelling junior in high school, I have always had a passion for math and helping others understand the beauty and simplicity behind math. I aim to teach students how math can be applied to their everyday life and compare math problems to something they are already familiar with. When working with students, I will attentively track their progress and make lesson plans for each session that correspond with what they are currently learning at school. Having experience volunteering with children in libraries and the Chicago Children's Museum, I am able to adapt to all different ages of children as well as their different learning styles.
I enjoy teaching children the simplicity and beauty in math and how it can be a really simple topic to grasp once they understand the basic principles behind it.
In my high school career, I have been taking honors classes all four years. I have completed Honors Agebra 2/Trigonometry, Honors Geometry, Honors Pre-Calculus, and am currently in AP Calculus

My typical process for working with a new student is to first get to know the student and what their everyday life is like, then giving them a background of who I am so they are able to trust and develop a relationship with me. Then, I will go an and see what the student is learning at school and base my lesson plans for the next session on that.

My standard pricing for each session is $15-$18 per hour. If I see that a topic is taking longer to comprehend, I might go up to $22 an hour but that is probably the maximum I will go in terms of pricing.
