About Caroline
I have been helping students with math for almost 15 years, working with students as young as preschool up through high school age. I’ve taught advanced math classes, grade level, content, and self-contained classrooms. My service is unique because of the experience I have working with students that are Neurodivergent. I work with each student at their skill level and ask scaffolded questions to challenge them to grow from there. Ultimately, my approach is to feed an intrinsic motivation to learn and be successful (to be self motivated!).
I am experienced working with students with challenging behavior as well as academic and social/emotional needs.
What I enjoy most about the work I do is watching students transition from apathy to engagement. Rekindling the love of learning and joy of understanding is my mission and being a part of that process is very exciting to me.
I have my Secondary Teaching License to teach Math and have been working with the School District for 10years.
Currently, I work as a certified educational therapist, providing one on one targeted exercises to improve cognitive skills, such as math reasoning, strategic approach to problem-solving , auditory and visual processing and language skills.

I like to spend a few minutes each session checking in with the student to hear what their engagement level is and if there are any barriers to working today. After that I try to let them lead by putting into words or showing me what they understand and where they need help. From there I teach, demonstrate, support their work and challenge where appropriate to bring it to the next level :)
In addition to teaching math and grade level standards, I worked with students with special needs as an educational assistant, helping with academic success as well as executive functioning and social/emotional skills. I have also taught Advanced Math and worked with students with a very high level of academic skills (identified as TAG) in school and extra curricular activities.

Details
I find it is helpful to meet initially for about 10 to 15 minutes to meet the student and to discuss goals, schedule and materials, and this is free of charge. After that, I charge $30 for 45 minute sessions.
