We were thrilled with Lara! We began tutoring with her for our third grader, who brought home a “2” in Math on her report card. After one quarter of working with Lara, our third grader’s Math score went from a “2” to a “4”: the highest score available. When we began, our child had started to hate math, and was beginning to say things like, “I’m bad at math.” Lara quickly turned our child’s attitude around so that our child began to enjoy math and have confidence in her ability. Lara made the tutoring sessions fun, and tailored the focus to match whatever our child was learning in school at the time. Lara sent weekly reports as to how each tutoring session went, and noting our child’s successes and areas where our child still needed work. While working with her, Lara also raised a question about a vision issue that our child was struggling with, bringing this to our attention so that we could get the issue assessed and treated. Without Lara, we would not even have known that our child was having this issue. We greatly appreciate how Lara helped our child.

Lara White helped me tremendously in preparing for the SAT and knowing what to expect from it, especially by teaching me how to streamline the process of answering questions by figuring out how the test makers think. Working with her is amazing– she’s smart, funny, efficient, professional, and extremely organized, which makes every tutoring session feel like a simultaneously productive and uplifting experience. I used a lot of Mrs. White’s advice when I took my first SAT– and landed in the 91st percentile, an improvement from my initial scores– because of the practice I had gotten during my sessions with her. I highly recommend Lara White as a tutor, and I’m a much better test taker because of her concise and applicable test-taking tips.

Both of my girls struggled with math. Math homework time was a fight every evening. One of them struggled with being behind, while the other struggled with some learning disabilities. Having Lara help has been amazing. The girls find her demeanor kind and patient. She is flexible with schedules and I really feel like she wants my kids to be successful in math. We have loved having her help our family.

Lara is a wonderful tutor and really cares about the children she works with! When my daughter first started tutoring with Lara, she barely knew her letter sounds. Lara has made the sessions fun and enjoyable and thanks to her, my daughter is reading and progressing forward. It's hard to see your child struggling with something that no one seems to be able to help them with, including yourself. Lara was awesome. My son, 15 really liked her which was a major plus. She's patient and so good with explaining concepts. She also emailed me with notes from each lesson. The only negative is that she doesn't do Algebra 2!! We will miss her!!! Thank you, Lara!

I cannot recommend Mrs. Lara White as a tutor highly enough. She initially tutored our daughter in third grade for math and English, and continued through high school. Her assistance was invaluable.
The SAT prep review in high school was the best money we ever spent. I bought several SAT prep books that were gathering dust in our daughter's closet.
Then we scheduled SAT prep sessions with Mrs. White over the summers. Our daughter did SAT practice tests in advance of those sessions, and then reviewed the questions that she got wrong with Ms. White. She completed nine SAT prep tests. A perfect score on the SAT is 1600. By doing the SAT prep with Mrs. White, our daughter increased her pretest score to her posttest score by 350 points. We feel that this will prepare her to take the real test in the fall, and may assist in earning a college scholarship.
If I, as a parent, had made our daughter do nine SAT tests, and then had attempted to review the incorrect answers, it would not have gone well. Ms. White did a beautiful job. She also taught my daughter how to take a standardized test. This skill will serve her well in the future.
Mrs. White is a wonderful tutor. She connects well with children and teens. I recommend her wholeheartedly.
