About Maeve
I have been an experienced classroom teacher and leader for seven years now in the UK and the US across all age groups of the elementary sector. I am a passionate educator who is dedicated to delivering high quality lessons to ensure every child succeeds to the best of their ability.
Why I believe I am good at what I do is partially due to getting such fulfilment out of supporting and guiding a child to meet their goals and incentives but also because I equip children with the tools and skills to become independent with their learning and take ownership of their own outcomes. I am committed to providing the right teaching instruction that a child can respond positively to and engages with enthusiastically. I explore and use different strategies and techniques to make sure children can fully access and enjoy their work.

In the first session, I typically undergo a baseline assessment to infer what level they are working at along with making that student feel comfortable to learn, ask questions and to take risks. I would allow for time for the student to get to know me and build rapport between us. Lastly, I would set the expectation of the tutoring lessons so the student is aware of what the aims are and how we will work together to meet them.
I have been fortunate enough to have worked with a range of students in different areas across London and New York. The children in my care have come from many different culturally diverse backgrounds and have various family set ups. This exposure has led me to cultivate awareness of student's biases. I ensure my teaching instruction and overall approach is inclusive and fair to all. I work to increase empathy and empathetic communication.
