About Helen
Highly educated, all-adult professional instructors - 8th degreee, 6th degree, and 4th degree main instructors. In business for 21 years in the area. State-of-the-art, clean facility. Realistic self-defense - not sport or competition. Meditation, stress management and life skills training as part of the program. Positive, supportive community - not competitive or threatening.
We enjoy helping people grow, and improve their lives. We take great pleasure in seeing the difference in people from when they come in and when they achieve their black belts. Many see such positive transformations - in ways they never expected. We have a very positive, encouraging culture in our school and students love it. There are far too few places like this and we are the highlight of our students week. We take great pride in our teaching, and seeing our students enjoy their accomplishments.
Began teaching over 40 years ago as a passion for sharing the life changing benefits we personally experienced from studying this particular form of martial arts.
Mark Sentoshi Russo has an MBA and was a former upper-management leadership consultant for Fortune 500 companies. He is the highest ranked male in the world in this art at 8th degree Master Instructor and has been teaching martial arts for over 40 years.
Helen Jotoshi Russo has been studying this art for over 25 years and is the highest ranked woman in the world.

We work one-on-one with new students to make sure they feel comfortable, to understand how the class format runs and to help them with techniques and movements that are new to them. We want our students to feel good about themselves and what they have learned every time they come to class. And they do!
We work with complete beginners to students who have many years of prior martial arts experience. Our students are from all walks of life - blue collar workers and stay-at-home moms to doctors, surgeons and lawyers. We have a wonderful culture within the dojo and everyone gets along tremendously well socializing on their free time and at the dojo social events. We are a "family" community.
Don't just shop for price or conveient location. Just because a location is close doesn't mean it's a good fit for you, and/or your child. We have students who drive past many other schools to come to us because of our outstanding martial art, community, customer service, and pricing.
In addition, being a skilled practitioner does not mean someone is a skilled teacher. We have many students who drive well over an hour to get to us because of our unique qualifications.
We all went to a local winery for the evening, children included, for some fun and socializing. A great time for everyone to have fun and mingle. Master Russo also recently delivered a seminar on "Embracing Change," sharing some of his extensive personal development material with a large number of students and their friends. This workshop, as they usually do, got rave reviews.

We do have standard pricing and we are very reasonably priced as compared with local competition. Basing your decision on price alone can be the wrong thing to do as not all schools are equal in style, or quality of service.
