About Johnpaul

Our style Goju Ryu is the oldest karate system of Okinawa Japan, where all karate comes from.

The instructor, having trained karate since 1973, is a certified 5th Dan black belt having credentials registered with:

- Japan Karate Federation Gojukai,

- Dai Nippon Butokukai,

- USANKF (member of the US Olympic Committee) and

- Seiwakai International Gojuryu Karatedo.

I enjoy atching new and returning students excel and grow in both their personal training and life.

I began teaching karate in 1995 under the direct guidance of Cornell Watson in San Jose California.

I currently teach a private club in Woodside California and a public Club and Menlo Park California at the Menlo Park Arrillaga Community Center.

About the lesson

Beginning students are first assessed with general or basic karate exercises, measuring their ability before progressing onto specific exercises.

For any student looking to hire a martial arts teacher I highly recommend requesting copies of their claimed credentials as well as verification that fingerprint data (criminal background check) is up-to-date and complete.
