About Shelli
I am on track to graduate from Western Governors University in August 2025 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. Following graduation, I plan to take the Special Education Praxis to further my qualifications. Currently, I teach Special Education English Language Arts to students in kindergarten through sixth grade. This is my second year as a Special Education teacher; prior to this, I worked for ten years as a paraprofessional in the Special Education department, gaining extensive hands-on experience supporting diverse learners.
In addition to my teaching experience, I recently completed a comprehensive two-year LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) training program. Through this program, I studied the Science of Reading and developed evidence-based strategies to support struggling readers. In my classroom, I implement a multi-sensory approach that includes visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning techniques to ensure that each student has the tools they need to succeed. My goal is to create an inclusive, engaging learning environment where all students can thrive academically and build confidence in their abilities.
