About Megan
Hello! My name is Megan and I am currently studying History at University at Buffalo. I absolutely love learning about history. I took every history AP offered at my highschool to make sure I covered a wide range of topics and details. Within all of those classes I gained above a 95 in GPA. I also supervised and aided in lessons for a 10th grade AP World class in 2022. As a tutor, I understand that History is not an easy topic, but like other subjects such as Math and Science, there are patterns within it that, once learned, make it much easier to understand.
I am currently enrolled as a history major under the UB TEACH program. At the end of this program, I will have my certifications to teach History! Nothing makes me happier than discussing history and seeing a students eyes light up as they realize how one event connects to another. Such as how a simple political decision in Europe, through a domino affect, caused the creation of our nation.

First, I will start with discovering what the student needs help with. There a lot of different aspects to a history class. Is it understanding how to write a historical essay? Or perhaps needing a different and new approach to historical situations. After figuring this out, I will work closely with the student and their needs. If it is essay work, we will practice writing essays with proper sources and techniques that AP graders are known to use. If needing broader help, we will examine videos, primary and secondary source readings, and practice questions to strengthen ones knowledge. There are many approaches to help a student understand what they may be struggling with.
As previously mentioned, in my senior year of high-school, my teacher let me observe and even teach a few AP World Modern History classes. Through this, I understood from a new perspective how to teach different types of students historical content. This gives me an experience different than most student tutors.
