About Mallika
I believe that everyone can be successful if given the right push with the right force. Not everyone learns the same way, and not everyone learns at the same pace, and that's okay! Learning is not a race and success is a journey.
I am a recently graduated Music Therapy major from Duquesne University with a Bachelor's of Science. My main instrument is the trumpet, but because of my major, I had to learn and be proficient in a lot more instruments, which taught me a lot about myself, my abilities, and my comfortability. As part of my degree, I had to complete an internship, however, due to the pandemic, my internship was virtual. I not only learned how to teach piano, ukulele, and guitar, online, but also how to do it in an adaptive way that set every student for success. I taught music theory and music production, led songwriting, improvisation, choir, composition, and arrangement classes, to both children and adults. I have taught adaptive lessons and taught in three languages (French, English, and basic Arabic).

I first do an assessment, or baseline. During this time, I normally ask questions about what they would want to learn, what would their goals be, and what led them to wanting to take lessons. This helps me know what their expectations are and set them up for success later.
