About Mark
Above all, I care about those who study with me. Satisfaction is guaranteed. Enjoying what playing guitar is about and making progress is fundamental: It's fun and mental. At this time I have no committing contracts. It's simple; if you are not having fun then there is no need to continue.
I have studied guitar with all my heart for over 25 years. I have studied at colleges, music schools, and private lessons extensively.
During the time between lessons, I am always thinking about the individuals progress and how I can make the next lesson more effective.
What I enjoy most about teaching is the sharing of music and getting to know the individuals who study with me. To see and hear progress being made is a wonderfull thrill.
I started teaching early in my career because that is what ambitious players do. I would place adds in the small community newspapers, grocery store bullitin boards and the such.
I have taught many different class's through community education.
I have an Associate In Arts Degree as a music major from Normandale Community College in Bloomington, Minnesota. Then I went on to McCallester College in Minneapolis for the Bachelor Degree.
I attended full time with a degree at McNally/Smith University in St. Paul Minnesota
I have studied through private lessons extensively with many well known musicians such as, Rene Heredia, Pedro Cortez Jr., David Malmberg, Joe Hagerdorn, Scott Matteo Davies, and more.

When I start working with a new student, I use the best of my knowledge to determine where the individual is at with their instrument. Then I will suggest a method book or suggest exercises from pages of my own method. There is no extra charge for my handouts.
At the same time, or before our first lesson, I ask the student to name a few songs that they want to learn. Then we apply our methods and minds to playing what is fun.
I have worked with students from age 6 to 60. I have also worked with mentally handicapped students. I have been groomed by Doug Smith of McNally/Smith in the teaching of young students.
Finding a guitar teacher can be something of a nightmare, so my advice is to listen to your heart and use the best of your inteligence and make a decision. Always remember, it's ok if you make a mistake, and you can always change your mind.

I took lessons for two years from Mark. He was the best music teacher I’ve had. After fifteen years of playing guitar I’m still motivated to keep improving because of everything Mark taught me.
Mark is a highly skilled player, and a good and patient teacher. I've worked with him for a couple of years, and have learned a lot. Recommended!
What I liked best about Mark Raigna was his guitar abilities and his knowledge of music and technique. Mark was able to show me the unique layout of guitar and fretboard, and efficiently explains a simplified approach.

Details
My standard price for lessons is $25.00 per half hour lesson, and $45.00 per hour lesson. These rates are for those who come to my south minneapolis home studio.
I will make exceptions to travel to a students location for an additional $20.00 within a 15 radius.
I accept cash, check, or credit card for convience
