About Tim
I have been a professional music instructor for over 20 years. Now I do I’m home lessons only. I come right to your home on a weekly or by-weekly basis and we sit and have a totally stress free private session.
I’ve always enjoyed teaching music. Doing in home lessons has really helped me get to know my students better than ever. The lessons seem much more personalized and I feel that the student learns quite a bit more this way compared to going to a music store or to an instructional studio.
I started teaching when I was a student at FSU.
I have been a serious musician for most of my life. I have been a performer since I was about 17 years old and have been an educator since I was about 23. I majored in music at Florida school of the Arts and at the Florida State University. I studied classical guitar and piano. As well as performing in weddings, recitals, churches, studios, festivals, and many restaurants. Since then I have taught thousands of people how to play and how to enjoy music.

Typically, for our fist lesson I like to discuss musical goals with the student. I have found that these can have a significant range. There are so many styles and types of music. Do you want to play with others eventually? Do you want to play in church? Would you like to be able to sing and accompany yourself on the guitar? Or piano? Or ukulele? After that I try to handcraft each session in such a way as to get us closer and closer to that goal.
I have literally worked with about every type of student imaginable. A student can begin at any age. I have taught students from 5 years old to 90 years old. There are different skill levels as well. I obviously teach beginners, but also many people who have played for years and want to get back into it or just to get better. I’ve taught special needs students as well. I will work with anyone who has the desire to learn.
Find a teacher with experience, personality, and patience. Find someone with whom you feel comfortable. You’ll hopefully be spending a lot of time together.

Perfect! I tried to teach myself on my own and got nowhere. Tim is a wonderful teacher. He's very skilled at understanding where you are and is able to steer you in the right direction. He's very encouraging, too.

My rates are 40.00 per half hour or 65.00 per hour. Those are average rates. If a student lives across the street from me it would be less and if I have to drive an hour it could be a little more.
