About Robert

My background includes working for the City of Atlanta Parks and Recreation Department as a Golf Instructor and Assistant Manager at John A. White Golf Center. I am retired from the City of Atlanta which gives me great flexibility in the hours I can work. I have instructed for over 30 years and prefer to work with individuals...however...I would consider group opportunities. I have taught groups, individuals, children, adults and seniors the game of golf. I have also worked with the Special Olympics providing Clinics and Individual instruction for challenged athletes. One of my Special Olympic students represented the State of Georgia in the Special Olympic World Games. Finished 3rd in his age group. A few of my students have gotten golf scholarships at the college level. I teach in a very positive and supportive manner...always encouraging excellence while letting the student understand how they are progressing. I believe golf is a game of building confidence and learning in a low pressure environment. You must have fun with the game to enjoy the challenges it presents. For beginning students, I like to teach from the hole backward. That is starting with putting and working back to the longer clubs. I believe this is the best way to build confidence in a student. This method gives them small successes as they build their skills. That said, I can teach specific areas of the swing and game if a student has already mastered the beginners skill sets. I teach the game of golf...not just swing mechanics...although I am skilled in that area as well. Golf is a game that can be played your entire life and it is important to have students understand all the positive contributions the game can make to a their life. I try to let younger students understand the life enhancing journey that golf can become. My company is Changing FLOG to GOLF. I look forward to working with you and/or your potential student in the future.

Seeing a student progress from Flogging the ball around to Golfing their ball and enjoying the game.

I worked with the GA Special Olympics teaching clinics for challenged athletes.  One of my students went to the Special Olympics World Games and finished third in his division.

While with Atlanta Parks and Recreation I had some students who went to college on golf scholarships.

I have been certified by the U.S. Golf Teaching Federation and have worked directly with PGA Pros to give clinics for both able and challenged athletes.

I also worked 4 years for the City of Atlanta, Parks and Recreation Dept., as a Golf Instructor.

I start with Putting and work backward to the tee box, covering chipping, pitching, approach shots and then tee shots.

I like to find sports that they are familiar with and relate them to golf.

Students from all skill levels and ages.  Beginners, Intermediates and

Advanced...however...the majority have been beginners and intermediates.

Take your time and find the right person for you.  You know where you want to go with learning the game...so become comfortable with the teaching style of whomever you are considering.  Communications are the key in instruction find someone who has the ability to communicate in a style you understand and appreciate.

I gave clinics for the Atlanta Singles Golf Association for about 8 years and always found the Q and A sessions to be extremely rewarding...both for myself and the audiences.

The above mentioned Special Olympics Events will forever be a warm place in my heart, as there is nothing better than to see these challenged individuals having fun with the game of golf.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Do you want to learn one on one, which is more expensive or in a group enviorment which is less expensive, but, not as hands on.

What do you want to achieve with the game, how quickly do you want to achieve this and are you willing to be patient with the process.
