About Geroge
From Bangkok, to Beijing, to Los Angeles, I have tutored and taught students of all ages and academic backgrounds in subjects ranging from English as a second language, to writing composition, literary analysis, and a wide variety of historical disciplines.
I am TOEFL certified, with teaching experience at the Beijing Foreign Studies University, the International School of Bangkok, and the Los Angeles Unified School District adult learning program.
Since 2011, I have inspired a passion for learning with an in-depth and tailor made approach to the individual needs of each of my students. I seek to create an academic environment of patience and thorough understanding, coupled with real world applications and advantages of the subjects that I teach.
I began as an ESL teaching volunteer at the International School of Bangkok during my time as a student there. I continued working with students as a tutor throughout college in upstate Bew York, working briefly at the Beijing Foreign Studies University in Beijing, China, and most recently as a volunteer teacher in Los Angeles.
I am TOEFL certified, with teaching experience at the Beijing Foregin Studies University, the International School of Bangkok, and LAUSD Adult School Program. I am a college graduate with a BA in History.

Whenever possible, I begin by reviewing a student's recent previous work relevant to the topic(s) that they need assistance with, and if applicaple, discussing their strengths, weakenesses, and needs with parents or guardians.
Upon meeting students, I introduce a general lesson plan and overview of course work, and discuss their thoughts on their own percieved strengths, weaknesses, and needs with them.
I have worked with students around the world, childrena dna dults alike, aged 10-12 and up, from a variety of educational backgrounds, all the way up to the college/univeristy level.
I would advise any student to look for a teacher with a personable attitude, a patient and understanding approach to learning, and a passion for their academic subject(s).
As a teacher with the LAUSD Adult School Program, I worked with students pursuing GEDs, and students who needed to be taught on a fast-tracked curriculum to ensure that they graduated on time. Attending the graduation of students who I had helped through the program was an incredibly rewarding experience.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should take a personal inventory of their acadmeic needs, interests, strengths, and weaknesses. Students should discuss a teacher's approach to education and learning with them before discussing their needs and strengths in order to determine whether a teacher might be the right fit.

Details
My general rate is $37.50 per hour, meeting with most students for two hour lessons at a time. My rates and lesson times are flexible however.
