About Emily
I started formally teaching with Teach for America, and was placed in Tulsa, OK in Tulsa Public Schools.
I have a undergraduate degrees in Philosophy and History, where I learned how to write undergraduate level humanities papers. In addition, I took a course in undergraduate writing tutoring, and I was an undergraduate writing tutor.
After my undergraduate degree, I joined Teach for America, where I underwent an intensive, summer long teaching-training program. Afterwards, I was placed as a 5th grade teacher of science and social studies. As a Teach for America corp member, I attended weekly professional development geared towards developing excellent curriculum design and classroom management skills.
In my third year of teaching, I was selected to be a participant in the Teaching and Leadership Institute of Oklahoma, where I received weekly 1:1 high-level teacher coaching.

I think it's important to have a strong working relationship with my students. I first like to get to know a little bit about my students, their likes and dislikes, and what style of learning works best for them. Then we can establish learning goals, and outline a general curriculum with objectives/ goals/ and outcomes.
I have worked with undergraduate students across curriculums and ability-levels. I have also worked with 5th graders in an urban school setting.
Look for a tutor who has real teaching experience. With real classroom teaching experience, tutors have an ability to lesson plan, and tailor instruction to specific individual needs.
