About Joelle

I started at school. I did some volunteer work with younger children at my former elementary school in their afterschool program, working in arts and crafts as well as music and study help. Mostly I have worked with students within my own high school.

I am currently a senior in high school. I have experience peer tutoring younger students at my school and students have seen significant improvement from working with me. I go at a pace that works for the student and as time goes on I encourage them to test their limits. I have won English awards at school, I sing and write my own songs, and I am a straight-A student.

When working with a new student, I first determine what level they are at in their desired subject. I establish a system that will work specifically for the individual student and decide from there what steps need to be taken in order for them to improve upon their desired subject.

Elementary school students, middle school students, and other high schoolers.

Check their credentials. Review their ratings. Hire someone that you trust and someone that you feel comfortable with. Learning and teaching are an exchange. If one component does not work, then the other will not either.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should first ask themselves if they can do something on their own before they reach out for help. For example, if a student is having trouble writing an essay, I suggest they attempt to write it themselves without help from a parent or the Internet and see what skills they have by working completely on their own. The more independent a student is, the more capable they become of solving problems on their own.
