About Jullie
As an English teacher, I believe my role lies in helping students to understand how important language is. Since communication is so important, students need to understand what they say and how they say it matters. I use different instructional strategies to ensure that I can reach every student and that their success is at the heart of my guidance.
Education: Masters of Art in Teaching in English and History.
Experience: 7 years of teaching English in grades 6th-8th
The most enjoyable part of being an English teacher is helping students understand how to read and write better.
My first job teaching was as an art teacher. However, I always wanted to be a classroom teacher, so I went back to school to become a middle school English teacher.
I have a Bachelors in Fine Arts and a Masters of Arts in Teaching for both History and English.

The first thing I do is get to know my student. What are their interests, hobbies, and passions? This is an important step in teaching. The student must know that I value who they are in order for him or her to learn from me. Next, I would have them complete a reading/writing survey, so I could gauge their stamina in ELA. Then, depending on what their needs are, I would complete a preassessment to understand their skill level.
I have worked with students who have all different ability levels. Currently I work at a school that serves a large number of students with learning disabilities, including dyslexia.
My advice would be to find a tutor who is truly invested in your learning and cares that you acquire the skills that you need.
During Spring Break, my family traveled to Mexico and we were fortunate enough to swim with sea turtles. It was an amazing experience to swim next to such peaceful creatures. While snorkeling, we also saw barracudas, all types of tropical fish, and stingrays. Since I love animals, I was ecstatic to have such an amazing experience with my family.
