About Val
A teacher with Masters in Education and a literacy focus for grades k-12, I have spend last 10 years providing high quality, and effective education to students from different backgrounds and ability levels. My track record stands strong with student FSA score data that shows impoved gains in all literacy areas.
I simply enjoy working with students and see the smiles on their faces when they reach their goals!
I began teaching after my trip to Navajo Reservation in college, during which I tried out (and enjoyed!) working with students in Monument Valley High School. Ever since I have been on a journey to make a difference in my students lives.

I first assess the student strenghts and needs, get to know them, and set goals for learning.
I worked with students of most cultural backgrounds, and educaitonal levels. As an Enlish Learner myself (Yes, my native language is Russian!) I have also worked with language learners. I have also worked with students with special needs.
I would say to look for their credentials and area of expertise. I think it's important to match a teacher that has a lot of experience in the area that you need to improve.
I am a family person and love to spend time with my son Max. Last weekend we spend the day playing soccer and wreslting.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should come up with a list of questions that pertain to their concenrs and challenges and also will let them get to know the teacher a little bit.
