About Jason
I am from Lakewood, California originally. I have been tutoring for about eight years now and have done all age levels including middle school to college. I have worked with gifted students, as well as those who have IEPs, ELL’s and gifted students. I am very comfortable with students of all levels.
I obtained my single subject English credential at CSULA, where I won the Golden Apple Award (an award given to a small handful of graduates each hear) and graduated with from CSULA’s Master’s program with a perfect 4.0. I also am the current Department Chair for the English Department at my school, which outperforms all competing schools in the area in English. Education is my passion, and I am extremely motivated and very much enjoy working with students in writing, literature and grammar.
My style of teaching is an adaptive one, I do not generally come in with a rigid structure but instead a few varying course paths which focuses on the weaknesses the student has in the field. For example, if a student has problem reading and understanding what is happening in the reading we will work on contextual analysis and understanding the reading, as opposed to a student who completely understands the text and wants to focus on more complex ideas. I have done it all from teaching young children how to write a basic essay, reading plays and teaching children how to recite lines, as well as doing higher level college essays with many of my college clients. I am happy and willing to do anything to ensure that my students succeed in their studies.
