About Daphine

I believe that every child can and will learn and reach their educational goals. I respect that students do not all have the same learning style, and I cater to their specific learning style and needs. I bring in different resources that support learning. I determine your students' strengths and needs before I begin teaching. I will be your child's biggest cheerleader and motivator.

Teaching is my passion and I teach to the whole child. I relish in building positive and lasting relationships, trust, self-esteem, and confidence. Building relationships with students and their caregivers is an important part of teaching. My favorite quote is, "Children don't care what you know unless they know that you care." I find that if students believe that they are capable of doing something and they spend time practicing, they will significantly improve in any academic area. I am here to help build that capacity.

I have a master's degree in Reading Education and I gave a GA's teacher certification. I am a highly qualified teacher who has 15 years teaching experience in an urban/suburban setting. I am qualified to teach reading and math skills with fidelity and results.

About the lesson

Initially, I speak with parents/guardians about concerns they may have about the academic progress of the student. I then interview the student to gauge what they think they may need assistance with. I complete a pre-assessment to determine where the student is and where he/she needs to be. The student and I determine next steps through setting goals. I create a tailor-made lesson for the student. Every week, students are given quick benchmark tests to determine progress. I share progress with parents and students. Students set new goals and determine the steps to meet their individual needs. I ensure we take the necessary steps in order to meet the goals by the next week. I keep a running record of progress.
