About Yolanda
I enjoy teaching and using different methods to accommodate the needs of my students. I also like to incorporate games in order to learn the topic. My students find this a fun way to learn.
I enjoy teaching, it gives me a sense of satisfaction to see a student's progress and growth. I love working with diverse populations because it also gives me the opportunity to learn other cultures.
I have a bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master's degree in Forensic Psychology. I have experience teaching K-12 all subjects for over 20 years. In addition, I have been teaching business management and psychology courses for 10 years on the collegiate level. I also have experience teaching English as a second language to diverse populations. I am TESOL certified and have certification to administer and proctor TABE 11/12 assessments.
I got started teaching by substituting in the city school district. I found a love for teaching and this is why I am still teaching on many different levels for 20 years.
I have a bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master's degree in Forensic psychology. I have 20 years teaching experience. I have a K-12 substitute teaching certificate. I also teach psychology courses on a college level as well as ESOL courses. When teaching I also like students to apply what they have learned to real life situations. I also love to go beyond teaching what is in a book, by teaching the importance of becoming a productive citizen in the society.

I usually start by getting to know the student and what their learning style is, so that I can create lesson plans and utilize teaching methods in order to accommodate the learner. I like to find out which ways the student learns best rather that would be visual, auditory, or hands on learning.
I have worked with a diverse population of students over the past 20 years. I work with students K-12 as well as college students and students who are learning English as a second language.
The advise I would give is to find a teacher who is passionate about teaching and are willing to not only help with learning, but also concerned about all aspects of the student's life that could hinder their learning.
I attended a graduation/ceremony for my ESOL and adult edcuation students who showed growth in the program and their studies. This gave me a sense of satisfaction that they are ready to move on with their careers.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Think about what their needs are and goals. Then set a plan to accomplish those goals. Also, think about what obstacles stand in their way from completing those goals. Then list strategies to overcome obstacles.
