About Syd
I believe that everyone can learn to read and write with proper instruction. I am passionate about fostering a love for and confidence in reading and writing.
I have participated in literacy research for the past 6 years with my mentor, David A. Koppenhaver ('Comprehensive Literacy for All' by David Koppenhaver and Karen Erickson).
I have an undergraduate degree in Special Education with a master's degree in Reading Education with a certificate in multilingual learners. I was honored to receive the iSHINE scholarship, having the opportunity to participate in additional research, internships, and emergent literacy courses.
I was also honored and humbled to have been invited to join the Cratis D. Williams Society of Outstanding Graduates, which included 2% of the graduate class. I was invited to this due to my passion, GPA, participation in research, leadership, and potential.
