About Caitlin
I am compassionate and can work with a variety of backgrounds. I am able to adjust to my students' needs and keep positive encouragement as part of the tutoring. I am organized and have taught many different levels of English, so I am not beholden to one form or type of English class.
I have worked in China, Nepal, France, and the U.S as an English teacher. I love meeting new students and helping them achieve their academic goals through positive encouragement.
I am well versed in a variety of literary works, writing styles, and editing styles. So I am able to explain, demonstrate, and help with English levels from pre-school all the way through Senior Year of high school.
I love helping students and seeing that "ah-ha" moment when something finally clicks for them. Being able to help someone understand a concept that didn't previously, and helping them find the motivation to complete the work is what I love the most.
Having a positive working relationship with someone who sees the world through a different perspective is why I became a teacher.
I began tutoring international students after University at a middle and high school level. Which lead me to realize I had a passion for teaching and helping students.
I was accepted to a private school in Beijing as a full-time English teacher, and have never looked back.
I am an Upper School English teacher at a private school. I have been teaching for 5 years both in the States and Internationally.
I have a diploma in International English Language Teaching, as well as several certifications for young learners.
I've been a private tutor for 9 years, working with students from all different backgrounds, ethnicities, and language levels.

The first step is to have a conversation with the student about what work needs to be completed, what difficulties are they having.
The second step is to get organized with the student. How are we going to tackle the work and how do they best learn.
Finally, I am there through every step, encouraging the student, working and reviewing with them, and making sure they are completing the work to the best of their abilities.
I can work with students from preschool to senior-level high school.
I have worked with international students from all over the World, as well as high school students in the U.S.
A majority of my students are been mixed ESL and native speakers both in the classroom and with tutoring.
Make sure they are a good fit for you. Not every English tutor is the same and you need to make sure they meet your needs as a student.
Do they care enough to find out how you learn best? Do they have experience working with students from different backgrounds?
I had a student who was really struggling with his English work, and he kept telling me that he just was never going to get it. I spent most of my off-school hours working with him and trying to get him to understand the concept of rhetoric and how it applied in my class.
He really thought he was going to fail his mid-term. He finished it, turned it in, and I graded it on the spot, he passed with a high B.
He was so happy, he hugged me and said I was the reason he did so well and he was so thankful I never gave up on him.
