I love talking to people about their ideas and helping them find the emotionally intense aspects that build compelling narratives and images.
I trained as a high school physics teacher in the UK. Later, I pursued a PhD in linguistics and taught applied linguistics, sociolinguistics and research methods for several years. In 2017, I emigrated to Finland and have taught university-level academic English across the disciplines since, as well as recently moving into poetry and songwriting.
PhD in Linguistics. Over 10 years of experience in research and writing creative non-fiction, including 2 years teaching academic speaking and writing for undergraduates, PhDs and professors.

I have worked with highschool students (aged 11 - 18), university students from undergraduate up to PhD level, and post-docs and professors.
I am proud of a recent online writing workshop that I organized for PhD students who are working in isolation under Covid-19. The workshop focused not just on writing, but also on wellbeing and exploring new ways of working and being social online.
